A childbirth education class is required if this is your first baby and "strongly recommended" if this is your first out of hospital birth.

Our childbirth education class is loosely based on Birthing From Within, and focuses on the idea that birth is a life-altering rite of passage, not a medical event, even when medical care is a part of the birth.  In addition to this, five beliefs of women who "birth from within" are that:

  1. Connecting with other mothers and women for support and guidance is an essential part of preparation for birth and mothering.

  2.  The Power to birth comes from within you; from your strong bodies and your commitment to do whatever it takes to birth your child.

  3. Primitive self-expression, including making noise and losing control, are a natural part of birth (and “looking good” isn’t)

  4. Protecting your birth space so that it is conducive to birth (quiet, dimly lit, warm and private) is critically important to how your birth will unfold.

  5. For most women, birthing requires preparation and practice during pregnancy

Class Schedule

Join our 12 hour childbirth series. Our classes are flexible and we can discuss whatever is on your hearts and minds. Our goal is to inform and support you as well as prepare you for a natural, physiologic birth. We look forward to helping you have the best birth experience possible.

The weeknight class is a four week series beginning the first Wednesday of each month. Classes are from 6:30-9:30pm. The cost for the Childbirth Class is $250.00. Please register and pay the $125 deposit by the 30th week of your pregnancy.

The weekend class is the 2nd weekend of each month from 10am - 4:30pm. There will be a 1 hour lunch break. The cost for this class is $250. Please register and pay the $125 deposit by the 30th week of your pregnancy.

We also offer a refresher class (for those who have already taken child birth class) and would like a customized refresher to meet your individual needs. This class is by appointment only. Please contact Abby Moore or speak with the front office to make an appointment.
